Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official stated the attack left him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
